Here’s what you’ll need:

  • A plain white mug (You can find them at the dollar store)
  • Oil based sharpies, as many colors as you want! (Regular sharpies don’t work)
  • Enamel acrylic paint
  • Small paint brush

Now let’s get started!

You can basically draw or write anything you want! Start with things like “Best Dad Ever”, “#1 Dad”, and go from there.  Don’t forget to write the year somewhere so you’ll know when you (or the kids) made your masterpiece!

Now, on to the hand print part.

Take a small paint brush and paint your child’s hand.  Quickly place it down flat onto your mug, then carefully lift it straight off so that you don’t smudge you hand print. This might take a few tries!

Once this is done, you can write more around your hand print.

Now put your mug into your oven and begin preheating your oven to 425 degrees!  You put the mug in before preheating so that the mug can heat up gradually with the oven.

Bake your mug for 30 minutes!

Allow your mug to cool, and then you can fill it with more goodies for Dad.  You can add things like Dad’s favorite candy and snacks!
