Rope art is a super easy DIY that can make any room in your house cozy!
Whether you like inspirational words, funny phrases, or you just like to label your rooms, you can do it in rope!
What you’ll need:
-Rope of course! We like to use jute rope. It comes in many shades and can be found at your local hardware store.
-Regular white school glue
-Cornstarch
-Wax paper
-Paint brush
First, decide what you want to write and then write it out on your wax paper. You will use this as a guide for your rope. Remember, the larger your letters and the longer the word, the flimsier your rope art will be. Try not to make your word or letter so large that you need more than one piece of rope, it will be really hard to keep it together.
Next, mix up your ingredients. Add 1/4 cup of white glue, 1/4 of corn starch, and a 1/4 of water and whisk until smooth.
Dip your rope into your mixture and completely cover it. Once its nice and covered lay it along what you’ve written on your wax paper. If you have any trouble with it not staying in place you can place another sheet of wax paper over it and place a book over it.
Wait 24 hours to let it dry well, and then hang your awesome rope art!
Tips:
-To make your rope art extra firm, use a paint brush and brush on extra coats of the mixture after you’ve laid it out. The more coats the firmer!
-Put words together to make phrases! We like “Get Naked” for the bathroom!
